Cab Cupons

One important aspect of life for a person who is blind or visually impaired is transportation. To help with this need, any person living in Utah who is blind or visually impaired can order up to $100 worth for $50 plus $5 priority shipping. First time users of this program need to provide proof of vision impairment.. This option makes using a taxi feasible when other options aren't working well.

We have two types of coupons: those for Yellow Cab of Salt Lake and those for everyone else. Scroll down to see a list of companies with whom we are contracted. The coupon books for Yellow Cab of Salt Lake, which are worth $20.00 and cost $10.00 each, (includes shipping), are printed by Yellow Cab of Salt Lake. They are only for Yellow Cab of Salt Lake and are not for the Yellow Cab companies in other towns.

For the remaining companies throughout the state, $10 book of white coupons are available at a cost of $5.00, (includes shipping). The UCB produces these ten-dollar books, and they are generally referred to as "the white coupons". The white coupons give the user the flexibility to use them with any of the taxi companies other than Yellow Cab of Salt Lake.

Uber Added to Subsidized Transportation Program

In order to purchase any Uber or Lyft Rides discount cards you must present proof of residence in Utah, a doctor's note stating you are blind, or the Social Security letter stating you are declared Blind/Visually Impaired or Legally Blind. You must be Legally Blind with an acuity of 20/200, (Legally Blind), or less; less meaning an acuity of 20/300 in your better eye or your field of vision is less than 20 degrees. Be prepared to present these items when purchasing an Uber Card. No Proof, No Card!

The Utah Council of the Blind is pleased to announce that we have expanded our Subsidized Transportation Program to include Uber and Lyft Rides. The price will be the same $50.00 for a $100.00 gift card. There are a few differences, however. The gift cards can only be ordered using a debit or credit card. If you are interested in using Uber or Lyft Rides, call 801-245-9264 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday -Fridays, (closed holidays). The gift cards are ordered from Amazon and you will receive them by email. There will be a code that needs to be entered on the Uber and Lyft app on your smart phone. After you enter the code, make sure that the Uber or Lyft cash is your default payment. These gift cards are nonrefundable. Please remember that these cards can only be ordered every 30 days. These cards are only for blind and visually impaired people in the state of Utah. Verification of visual impairment may be requested.

New Transportation Provider Serving the Ogden Area

Great News for the blind and visually impaired in the Ogden area. The UCB has contracted with a new transportation company which will honor our white cab coupons. Clint Wayment, owner of Home and Family Care Services has agreed to transport blind people who have purchased the UCB white cab coupons as payment for transportation. They serve from Farmington to Brigham City with the possibility of further distances. To use their services, please call the UCB office at: 801-245-9264 and purchase the UCB white cab coupons to utilize this service. Coupons are currently $50 for $100 worth plus $5.00 for priority mail. They do not expire and can be used for the fare and tips. How To Pick Up Coupons

First, the coupons can be picked up at the UCB office, 250 N 1950 W, Room 246, Salt Lake City on Wednesdays between 12:00 and 3:30 p.m.
A second option is to have the coupons mailed directly to the home of the person who is blind or visually impaired. If coupons are being mailed, the shipping cost will be $6.00 for priority shipping. To have them sent to you by mail, you can either"
